‘liquidity Ar’

Durational Performance- 50 hours (continuous ), Kampala Art Biennale , Kampala, 2016, Uganda

Arguably post-colonial dalit body (artist himself)  is another refugee. Physical and mental mobility is always in a crisis. Although, we have started  from water , we have crossed  it multiple times to reach new ‘hope’ and still we as a collective body and individual body are looking new coasts to reach . Water is the elemental fluid bond that created what we call earth.Water indicates the borderless transformation of life and its existence. Since the beginning of gluttonous colonization and its civilization project water turned into a medium of crushing the Other. Undoubtedly, it had been the life blood of travel and transnational mobility. Even today it serves as the grave yard for many illegal emigrants.

Interestingly, back in India, quite often I have been treated as an African body / external body. So this voyage without a destination is an interesting point of departure. But in a larger perspective, we as human beings are helpless bodies…

Here the post colonial black-dalit body will try to escape to the coast that is unknown and impossible. In the public space of Kampala a boat (immovable) of hope tried to move without a destination and without water- An element we came from and an essential element we need here in this planet or anywhere else
